Hiding Heidi has refused to give her real position on whether Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election and skirted questions from reporters on whether she believed the 2020 election results were legitimate.
She tells the public one thing, and her supporters another:

Heidi Ganahl, Durango Event, 11/18/21 What specific things can you do as a governor to minimize voter fraud? Ganahl:“ There are a lot of great people working on this issue that would love to have you volunteer, get involved.” | Heidi Ganahl, KDVR Point of View, 4/17/22 Do you agree [with Republican delegates] that we should get rid of mail-in ballots? Ganahl: “Well, you know, what I’m concerned about is that folks don’t feel confident that their vote matters, and we need to get back to restoring confidence.” |
Heidi Ganahl, Happy Hour Event, 4/8/22 “Do you think Joe Biden is a legitimate president right now?” GANAHL: “He can’t even talk! He’s terrible. Yeah no there was some shady stuff going on [in the 2020 election].” | Heidi Ganahl, George Brauchler Show, 4/6/22 “Was the [2020] election stolen?” GANAHL: “You know Joe Biden is our president. And unfortunately right now he’s the guy in the White House. We’ve got to do everything we can to change that.” |
Hiding Heidi started out by concealing her position on abortion, then announced “I am pro-life” without ever clarifying if she believed in exceptions in cases of rape or incest. When asked in an interview with El Comercio, she avoided the question saying she supported “reducing abortions” and would take a look at what landed on her desk.
After the revelations that Roe v. Wade may be overturned, Hiding Heidi still refused to state a clear position on an abortion ban, only saying through a spokesperson she didn’t support a “total ban.”

Hiding Heidi has repeatedly and primarily spent her efforts connecting with people with far-right, extreme views since becoming a CU Regent, but refuses to comment on if she agrees with their positions:
Hiding Heidi deleted thousands of tweets that exposed her extreme conservatism. Hiding Heidi deleted support for Cory Gardner and Lauren Boebert’s campaign.
Hiding Heidi used her podcast to skirt around campaign finance disclosures.
Hiding Heidi failed on her promises made on the 2016 campaign trail for CU Regent. She vowed to lower the cost of college using community partnerships and businesses to help pay student fees, tuition, and housing. Instead Hiding Heidi co-chaired a group that opposed Proposition CC – a 2019 ballot proposal that would have increased statewide higher education funding.
